Is Meridian, ID a good place to live? This is one of the leading questions that pops into the mind when you consider moving to Meridian, Idaho.  Actually, Meridian is a wonderful area to reside in because of the quality of life for families and adults.

Meridian is located in Ada county and the Boise metropolitan area within Idaho. The population is 117,635 based on the 2020 US census.   In this post, we will go over the benefits of living in Meridian, ID to provide you with better reasons why you should think about moving to Meridian.

  1. Meridian has four great seasons

Meridian is will provide residents with spring, summer, fall, and winter. The truth is the climate is pretty comfortable during each season.   There are no seasonal floods or endless periods of snowfall. Summer temperatures reach the 90’s for a stretch but it’s a dry heat so all season are easy to live in. 

2.)  Meridian offers many outdoor activities

Meridian features an array of outdoor activities to do no matter the temperature. Some of the common activities when there’s warm weather are swimming, golf, tennis, biking, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, etc. Throughout the colder months, the primary recreational activities in Meridian consists of skiing, snowboarding, ice fishing, camping, feeding elk, hunting, state parks, and Roaring Springs.

3.)  Meridian has easy commute times

What good is having all these outdoor things to do if you are stressed in traffic?  In Meridian, you live is just 20-30 minutes from Boise so getting around can be quite easy.  During peak time traffic periods, like anywhere, the commute times can be extended.  Most residents use highway 26 or I-84 or the streets for local destinations.

The cost of living in Meridian is much lower compared to California, Oregon, Washington. Interestingly, Meridian is currently a bit more costly than living in Boise or Nampa-Caldwell.

Big employers such as Blue Cross of Idaho, Scentsy, Jackson’s Food stores and St. Lukes Health System, are responsible for hiring a large number of people and play a major role for the local economy.  The unemployment rate is considerably lower than the national average while the median income is higher than average. Due to it’s close proximity to Boise, Meridian residents usually work there for additional job opportunities.

Thanks to the recently built outdoor shopping center that has gardens and upscale shopping with a European design.

Once inside you’ll discover beautiful fountains with choreographed performances all through the day and night, and a large theater where you are able to view the latest movies.

Not surprisingly, the Village has excellent restaurants strategically placed near all the shops so you can take pleasure in a fine dinner or a delicious snack.  In the summer, they feature free outdoor concerts on Saturday nights at The Village. In the winter, the area becomes beautiful at night with holiday and Christmas decoration lighting along with an ice skating rink.
